News: Twins agree to sign Infielder Ty France – Twins

The Minnesota twins have added another bat to their selection of Infield options that agree to sign Ty France into one year’s appointment, according to Phil Miller from Minnesota Star-Tribune.

France, 30, numbers to fill a version of the role that went to Carlos Santana in 2024 and Donovan Solano in 2023. He comes out of a hard season with the seafarters and red, but is a .263/.337/.407 Career hits and a right -handed dough that is comfortable at the first base. For the moment, he becomes the presumably regular in this position, though he is not good enough to force Edouard Julien or Jose Miranda completely out of the picture.

Earlier Tuesday afternoon, the twins left left handed pitchers Brent Headrick to Yankees via exceptions, so there was already space on the 40-man list for France.

Unlike, for example, Harrison Bader, France is not a natural candidate for Peloton. In his career, he is more of a line-drive hitter with good-not-great power, plate discipline and contact skills righties “. That doesn’t mean France is in line for 600 record performances, especially after a campaign where he didn’t come to much of his power. Imagine he is using him, but there is no doubt that France brings a slightly higher floor to their first-base projection.

If you hope for the same kind of defense that the twins got from Santana, however, prepare for disappointment, France is a Stocky converted other Baseman without much mobility or especially soft hands. He assesses badly with the glove and does nothing for the team’s league worst speed and athletics. This signing, which shows that it is for a low seven -digit amount, is a gamble of the Twins Front Office on a bat with a certain top in a market that is still more out of such players. It’s unsexy and France is probably a one-dimensional contributor. He still gives stability and the team clearly felt more reliable depth was necessary.
