Minnesota Gophers Wrestler Gable Steveson takes his 63. Victory in a row

Gophers’ path to victory in double would be to win the four matches where they were preferred, pulling a rebellion and securing bonus points. Instead, Iowa pulled a rebellion of 125 pounds when No. 26-ranked Joey Cruz angled No. 13 Cooper Flynn 7-4 on a sudden victory after Flynn bound it late with a third period of dismantling.

At. 133 stretched Iowa’s third ranked Drake Ayala-a NCAA-Runner-Up last year-Hawkeyes’ team led to 6-0 with a 9-5 win over Minnesota’s 19th-ranked Tyler Wells.

Minnesota’s eighth-ranked Vancce Vombaur at 141 ran its record to 20-3 with a 14-10 decision on non-ranked Cullan Schries. But Iowa’s next three wrestlers kyle parco at 149, Jacori Teems at 157 and Michael Caliendo on 165-been ranked as third, third and second and second, respectively, and each won to stretch Hawkeyes’ lead to 17-3.

Iowa’s 11th-dragged 174-pound Patrick Kennedy, a senior from Kasson-Mantorville, Minn., Scored an 8-4 decision on No. 22 Clayton Whiting, who encountered Hawkeyes’ lead to 20-3.

The Marquee match of double came in 184 with Gophers’ fourth-ranked Max Mcenelly turned No. 8 Gabe Arnold. It didn’t disappoint when McEnelly scored a 37-second dismantling into the first sudden victory period that won 4-1 and was unbeaten at 18-0. The victory cut Iowa’s team led to 20-6.

“It’s hard to open such a guy when he’s super good defensively,” Mcenelly said. “But you just have to continue with it, continue to attack.”
