Wizards Notes: Smart, Sarr, Poole, Holmes, Middleton

Marcus Smart Finding himself on one of the league’s worst teams. The veteran guard was treated by Memphis to Wizards Last month and trying to make the best of it, he told Candace Buckner from Washington Post.

“To control what I can control is my motto now when I’ve grown older and I think it helps a lot because we’re put to the test,” he said. “When you are such a competitor and you are so passionate (then) to come to a team that is young, rebuild in a way, you know, trying to find out. You know it’s frustrating, but the older you get, the experience I went through it. So now I can see, sit down and understand by looking from 2017 so far, what can I do differently? And that’s the way I react. “

Smart, signed through next season, is trying to give his new teammates some harsh love.

“They know I’m not here to hold your hand. I’m here to help you get better, ” he said. “This group is very young, but they have some talented guys who can be defensive players in the year or all-star candidates, all-NBA candidates with some work. A little bit of experience, a little guidance, and that’s what I’m here for. “

Here’s more on the wizards:

  • Alex Sarr Has struggled to score at the edge of his rookie season, but he was an interior strength against Utah on Wednesday, racking 21 points and doing everyone except one of his seven attempts at the field. “Certainly just trying to be aggressive. Get some light around the edge before distance, ” He said, pr Varun Shankar from Washington Post.
  • Jordan Poole Missing his third straight game with a right elbow hyperextension, Shankar notes. Coach Brian Keefe Indicated that Poole performed some work on the field, including shooting, Wednesday. Big man Richaun Holmes Missed his first game since the end of January with a left knee contusion, Shankar adds.
  • While smart and Khris MiddletonAnother acquisition of commercial line, plays key roles as mentors for the younger players, it is very possible-or perhaps probably trollmen will try to trade them after this season or before the trading deadline for 2026, Josh Robbins from Athletic writes in his latest mailbag. Robbin’s fields also questions about the draft and the organization’s player development program.
