Rantan traded to stars of hurricanes, sign 8-year-old, $ 96 million contract

The Rantan has 687 points (289 goals, 398 assists) in 632 games in regular season with Colorado and Carolina, including 371 points (160 goals, 211 assists) in 299 games in the last four seasons ranking seventh in the NHL.

He also has 101 points (34 goals, 67 assists) in the 81 Stanley Cup playoff game, including 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) in 20 games in 2022 when he helped Avalanche win the cup for the first time since 2001.

The Stankoven has 29 points (nine goals, 20 assists) in 59 games this season. The 22-year-old had 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in 24 games in regular season in 2023-24 and eight points (three goals, five assists) in 19 playoffs.

The Stankoven, chosen by Dallas in the second round (No. 47) in 2021 NHL Draft, has a season left on his three-year-old, entry-level contract he signed with the stars on September 28, 2021.

Dallas has won four in a row and seven of its last eight. The stars seem to take the next step after losing in six games to Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference Final last season. The stars last reached the Stanley Cup final in 2020 and lost in six games to Tampa Bay Lightning.

Carolina has won three in a row and has set her eyes on a seventh straight playoffs, after winning at least one round in each of the last six posts.

If the first round of 2026 is in the top 10, the stars would be able to convert the election to an unprotected election in the first round of 2027 NHL draft. The first round of 2028 carries the same conditions.

Nill said the stars also signed Wyatt Johnston for a new contract on Friday. Conditions were not released.

Johnston is in the last season of the three-year-old, Entry-Level contract he signed September 28, 2021, and could have become a limited free agent 1.

The 21-year-old is the third on the stars with 59 points (23 goals, 36 assists) in 62 games. Johnston was selected in the first round (No. 23) by the NHL draft in 2021 and has 165 points (79 goals, 86 assists) in 226 games in regular season and 22 points (14 goals, eight assists) in 38 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
