Shadows the release date and 10 things you need to know

If you’re a little worried about Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it’s a logical concern. The story suggests that several delays may be a bad sign of video games, but that is not always the case.

As a fan of the series, I personally hope it is as cool as it looks. Here are the 10 things you need to know about Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Release date

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be launched on March 20, 2025. After two delays from its original November 15, 2024, Target and a subsequent February 14, 2025, date, this one seems to be rock solid when we sit almost two weeks from the launch.

According to Ubisoft, it delayed the game to polish and refine the experience. They hope to make sure it meets the fan expectations.

Platforms

ASC will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, PC (via Ubisoft Store, Steam and Epic Games Store), Amazon Luna and Macs with Apple Silicon (via the Mac App Store), with a future release planned for iPad. This will be the first title in the series for over a decade to skip last gene consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One. Ubisoft hopes ASC delivers the kind of visual allegiance that would put it out of reach for older consoles.

Pre -order offer

Consumers who pre -order Assassin’s Creed Shadows will receive “Thrown to the Dogs” bonus assignment by launch and free access to the expansion “Claws of Awaji” to be released later in 2025.

Claws of Awaji has over 10 hours of extra content. The available editions include Standard Edition ($ 69.99), Digital Deluxe Edition ($ 89.99) with additional cosmetic packages and a Collector’s Edition ($ 280), which is exclusive for gamestop.

The Superhardcore physical version has a statue with double character, steelbook, art book and more. Ubisoft+ Premium subscribers get the ultimate version on first day. There are several pre -ordering offers. I would recommend visiting the site for the store you are considering weighing your options based on offers and accessibility if you get a physical version.

The gameplay contains double protagonists with unique Playstyles

The two protagonists of ASC are Naoe, a stealth-focused shinobi murderer from Iga Province, and Yasuke, a powerful African samurai based on a historical figure. Users will be able to switch back and forth between the two characters.

As you could expect, Naoe and Yasuke have different strengths. Naoe stands out in parkour and silent eliminations using tools such as a giant hook, while Yasuke dominates in close combat. This double protagonist system is similar to Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. The double character approach is designed to work well with some of the gameplay systems.

The feudal Japanese setting and an open world

ASC is set in the late Sengoku period. The events in the game take place under Japan’s association under Oda Nobunaga. A huge and well -developed open world was built to repeat the central Japan’s historical provinces (eg IgA, OMI).

If the photos and video I’ve seen do it fairly, ASC could be one of the more visually impressive games to release this year.

Seasonal and weather dynamics

Adding to the visual performance ASC will introduce a seasonal cycle (spring, summer, autumn, winter) that works with the events of the campaign. According to Ubisoft, weather conditions will affect gameplay. Each season will present unique structures and hiding places. E.g. Offers Summer Bushes for Saved while Winter’s Snow will crush under your feet and potentially warn enemies.

I am excited to see how this is done. I am a sucker for timelapse concepts in video games.

Customizing and Hidden Features

This year, players can build and adapt a Shinobi -Hjulested, including a blacksmith for weapons upgrades and aesthetic ornaments via Sekiryu Hideout Pack.

Users can customize their equipment at five value levels, while also smoothing out equipment statistics. It is a home base that seems to be woven into the history of the campaign.

Fight and Stealth

ASC’s combat system offers multiple weapons matches, a parry system and signature moving for Naoe and Yasuke. As usual, Stealth Mechanics is an important part of any Assassin’s Creed title.

History and historical context

ASC is not trying to be historically accurate, but rather a creative intake of a period in Japanese history. It seems that Ubisoft is deliberately addressing the exclusion of certain races and gender representation through the identity of its two protagonists.

I am interested in seeing if some tough topics are explored in the game’s dialogue.

Content after launch and future potential

Ubisoft seems to have plans to expand ASC further than previous titles in terms of content after launch. In addition to the claws of Awaji expansion, ASC seems to be heading for a co-op mode, although this is not confirmed. New content is likely to be introduced via Animus Hub, a new lifting rocket that offers weekly challenges and a free battle pass that integrates ASC with post-syndicate titles. Be looking for more coverage on ASC as we get closer to release.
