Denver Falls St. Thomas in Summit Quarters

Sioux Falls, SD – The seventh seed University of Denver-men’s basketball team ended in the hands of second-seeded St. Thomas in the second Summit League quarter-final Thursday night inside the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

The pioneers (11-21) had two players score in double, led by Deandre Craigthat had 15 points. Josh Pickett adhered to 14 points and Nicholas Shogbonyo Added seven points and six rebounds.

  • St. Thomas has won six of the last seven meetings.
  • Denver fell to 5-10 in the Summit League tournament since joining the league in 2014.
  • Josh Pickett Finished with 14 points and 3 rebounds.
  • Pickett ended in double for the second straight game and for the fifth time in his first year season.

How it happened:

St. Thomas came out and shoots the lights out and ended 7-for-12 in the opening 20 minutes beyond the arch. The pioneers struggled to get into their offensive grooves and fell afterwards with 16 at the break.

Tommies’ defense continued to cause problems in the second half. St. Thomas expanded his lead after a break and constructed an 80-55 advantage before Denver went on a 7-0 race to shrink the deficit to 80-62 by 22 seconds to go into the competition.
