Tottenham Manager Ange Postecoglou, who spoke at his news conference after the match: “We analyze it and look at the areas where we struggled with, but it is fair to say that it was not near the level it should be.

“It wasn’t good from us tonight. Virtually all facets of the game. We didn’t really get hold of any part of the game. We struggled to get any speed with the ball, we were not as aggressive as we needed without the ball.

“I don’t think it’s a matter of effort or attitude. I don’t think it’s going out there and not trying, but as I said, we didn’t really get on and have the right mindset to tackle a waisting fixture in Europe.

“It’s always tough, and we obviously admitted the goal, which was a disappointing set of events, but even after that we didn’t really hit the game.

“You are going to meet some pressure when you play from home in Europe and the weather storm and get hold of it, but we never really did it, it was a disappointment.

“We have to be much more aggressive than we were. We just lacked a little aggression in everything we did. We were a little hesitant with the ball, hesitant with our pressing, and we can’t be that way.”
