For the first time in nearly four decades the “New Yorks Team” will go into Big East Men’s Basketball Tournament as No. 1 Seed.

In what has been a historic season, Rick Pitino has led St. John’s to No. 1 seed in 2025 Men’s Big East Tournament At New York’s Madison Square Garden thanks to a program best 18-2 record in Big East Play.

Behind Johnnies is No. 2 seeds Creighton and No. 3 Seeds Uconnwhich locked a top three seeds with victories over Seton Hall and Marquette Earlier this week. Golden Eagles will be No. 5 seed after dropping a heartbreaking overtime on the red storm on Saturday and losing a head-to-head tiebreaker with Xavier.

Although they are a five seed and secured a first round of bye, Shaka Smart’s Golden Eagles have a lot to play this week in the garden after losing three of their last five. Kam Jones and David Joplin, a Big East Sixth Man of the Year winner in 2023, has been on a tear for the last couple of matches and will have to have big performances if Marquette will return to the championship in the third equal season.
