Scout’s guide to using your chips in 2024/25 Fantasy

The scout explains what each chip in Fantasy Premier League Do and how they can be used effectively in empty or double gameweeks.

Triple Captain

Triple Captain Chip allows you to earn three times the total points for your captain in a given gameweek.

If you still have your triple captain chip available there is an option to use it on Mohamed Salah (£ 13.8 million) in GameWeek 28 at home to the bottom of Southampton.

However, the chip is generally most effective when used in a double gameweek when a player has two matches to score points.

The benefits of such tactics were underlined in Double GameWeek 24 (DGW24) when Salah Scored 29 points across his two games thanks to three goals, one assist and six bonus points, giving him a massive 87 point with the triple Captain -CHIP.

Newcastle United forward Alexander Isaac (£ 9.4 million) will have a double gameweek 32 with home matches against Manchester United and Crystal Palace.

Salah and Liverpool are unlikely to get another double gameweek this season due to being knocked out of the FA Cup.

Free Hit

The free Hitchip allows managers only to choose a brand new team for a GameWeek.

Although the free HIT chip offers a further option in a double gameweek, managers tend to use this in an empty gameweek when a number of clubs and key fantasy sales are without a fixture.

The next one is blank GameWeek 29 (BGW29) when Liverpool, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are without a fight. Leaders who are packed with players from these clubs and will fight to mark a competitive fantasy-line-up in GameWeek 29 could use the free Hitchip to solve the problem.

However, the possible consequences of the FA Cup semi-finals at Blank GameWeek 34 (BGW34) make the best time for the free hitchip as there could be up to eight teams without being a fixed fixture, while only four clubs will be without a match in BGW29.

Six of the 10 fixtures in BGW34 are still at risk of postponement in front of the FA Cup fifth round. Only Chelsea against Everton, Liverpool V Spurs, Newcastle against Ipswich and Wolves Against Leicester is confirmed to move on in BGW34.

Joker sign

If you don’t like the look of your team and you want to change a number of players, Wildcard allows you to make sweeping changes at any time without any point deduction.

However, it is best not to use it on a whim or in a moment of frustration due to its strategic value and how it can be used to maximize the effect of other chips.

Experienced fantasy leaders tend to use their second joker sign before a double gameweek later in the season.

This season GameWeek 30 could be the most appropriate time to play the chip as you probably have all the information you have at your disposal about empty and double gameweeks later in the season at that time.

Leaders now know the four clubs that will like an Tom GameWeek 29 (BGW29): The two EFL Cup finalists, Liverpool and Newcastle United, plus their respective opponents, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.

Of GameWeek 30 you also know the clubs that are likely to suffer an empty gameweek 34 (BGW34) due to the FA Cup semi -finals. These same clubs are expected to be handed over a double gameweek at some point.

If you are planning to wildcard in GameWeek 30, the idea is gradually reducing the number of BGW29 players you have in your team in the weeks before the empty.

By using transfers, you can “blow” your team to bring short -term choices with favorable fixtures, which you can then transfer immediately to a joker sign.

Playing the Jokergnen then would also allow leaders to reinvest in Palace and Newcastle in front of their two fixtures in DGW32. With Newcastle guaranteed a fixture in BGW34, they would also be good long -term applies after the joker signs for leaders do not plan to free HIT in BGW34.

Assistant Manager

The new assistant manager Chip was available for the first time ever in fantasy in DGW24.

It immediately appeared a big hit with leaders. In fact, in a record -breaking gameweek for total chips played, assistant manager was the most popular of all used by over 1.17 million leaders for DGW24.

Assistant Manager gives you the chance to earn points from your chosen Premier League manager over a three-gameweek tricking form.

Leaders could choose to play the chip on either Eddie Howe (£ 1.5 million) or Oliver Glassner (£ 0.8 million) in DGW32, when Newcastle and Palace both have two furniture.

If leaders use the chip on Glassner over GameWeeks 31-33, he has matches at home for Brighton and Bournemouth along with trips to Man City and Newcastle. These fixtures provide plenty of options for table bonus points that the league currently stands.

Just remember that you can’t two use chips in the same gameweek, so if your assistant manager chip is active in DGW32, you wouldn’t be able to triple captain Isaac for his double gameweek, as suggested above.

Another strategy for assistant manager chip could use it from GameWeek 36-38, so you can take advantage of your chosen assistant manager at a time of the season when the player rotation is worst.

Bench Boost

Bench Boost Chip allows you to earn points from all 15 players in your team in a given gameweek, including them on your bench.

If you have a week where most or all of your replacements have good fixtures and you want you to be able to play them all, you can!

But the most powerful way of utilizing Bench Boost Chip’s potential is to use it with a joker sign around a double gameweek.

A smart strategy is to use joker signs just before a double gameweek, before using Bench boost chip in the Double Gameweek itself. Using this tactic, you can use your joker sign to fill your team with players who have two fixtures in Double Gameweek.

If all 15 members of your team play twice in Double Gameweek, it means using Bench Boost that you get points from 30 games – three times as many as you get in a normal gameweek when there are 10 fixtures.

As mentioned, there is probably at least one more double gameweek much later in 2024/25 fantasy to plan your bench boost chip around.
