FBI agents would take advantage of learning MMA -fighting skills, says former special agent

The new leader of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said he is thinking about require agents to work out in mixed martial artswhich is more commonly known as MMA.

FBI -Director Kash Patel Not only does it try to get rid of agents who are not aboard Trump’s Administration’s agenda, but he also wants the existing employees and any new hires to be more physical fit.

Jody WeisThere is the former FBI special agent who is responsible and former head of the Chicago Police Department said he thinks it’s a good idea.

“You know I actually like it,” Weis told National News Desk’s Jan Jeffcoat during a one-on-one interview on Tuesday morning. “I probably wouldn’t have made it for my first call to the field offices, but I like the idea.”

Weis said agents are learning arrest techniques and other defensive tactics, but added that MMA skills can be useful. He suggested that FBI agents would benefit from learning MMA fighting skills, including Jiu Jitsu.

“Most matches end up on Earth, so it just makes sense to me to incorporate some MMA training – maybe Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to give the agents opportunities besides strikes and weapons,” Weis told Jeffcoat. “For example, if properly applied, a naked choke or an armbar can help to get observance without having to use pepper spray or use a baton. And I think, more importantly, this type of training can increase the confidence and safety of the agents.”

Weis added that although he is aware that choke

“As a person who has been sprayed with pepper spray (and) who has been strangled if you give me the opportunity for these two, I will take strangle at any time,” he said. “It’s far less painful.”

He also said that all MMA skills must be part of an ongoing training process as opposed to a one-time training session.

“It has to be incorporated throughout their career,” Weis said.

With citation of MLB legend Yogi Berra, Weis said the mental aspect of it is also important.

“I think it applies in all sports,” he said, including MMA.

Quoting named sources, ABC News Recently reported that Patel potentially wants the FBI “to establish a formal relationship” with Ultimate Fighting Championship, or UFC, led by Dana White.

White supports President Donald Trump, where the president often participates in matches and seen sitting next to White at events.
