NFL Insider predicts to land the Eagles Edge Josh Sweat in free agency

In less than a week, March 10, the NFL team can start talking to unlimited free agents. No signatures or movement can happen until 1 p.m. 16.00 EDT on March 12, but the two-day window is open to begin these discussions.

The Washington commanders‘The main focus area this season is its defense. This team came to it all the way to the NFC championship before its season ended and the biggest reason they lost was that they couldn’t stop Philadelphia Eagles‘Driving games. The Eagles ran for over 200 meters in the NFC Championship Game, and although not a single NFL team could stop Saquon Barkley in 2024, he was responsible for about half of these yards. Commanders couldn’t stop anyone who rushed the ball that day.

With the free agency window opening In just five days, ESPN asked his NFL insiders to take their General Manager Hats and offer A free agent they want their team to sign this year. For the commanders, Eagles’ Edge Rusher Josh Sweat was at the top of their list.

Commanders’ Offer: Three years, $ 60 million ($ 40 million guaranteed)

Washington needs a defensive end that is adept at both hurrying passers -by and putting an edge against the race. The commanders have two ends that are free agents in Clelin Ferrell and Dante Fowler Jr. Sweat’s length and fast get-off-1,55 seconds in 10-yard split-will appeal to Washington. Plus, he can hurry inside stunts.

But the commanders were not the only ones who made an offer of sweat; Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers and Carolina Panthers inmates also offers. The Cardinals offered a three-year offer of $ 43 million with $ 21 million guaranteed. Packers offered a four-year $ 72 million deal with $ 24 million guaranteed. Panthers offered a four -year contract of $ 78 million with $ 46.8 million guaranteed.

Decision: Sweat is agreeing with a new deal with … the commanders

Washington’s offer has the highest average annual salary, and although Packers and Panthers offer four years, the guarantee here is better than Green Bays and pretty close to Carolina’s. Sweat played right in the Super Bowl, and Washington gives him a chance to get back there for the next three years with what the commanders are building.

With the way the commanders played in 2024, lots of free agents knock on their door next week. They have plenty of capital to work with with regard to the salary tackle, and they do not have to make a wealth of crazy features to get to the next level. At this point, the next level is to win the Super Bowl; The best thing they can do is leave alone what works. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it!

All that to say, sweat would be an ideal candidate for the commanders. He has played his seven years in the NFL in an Eagles uniform, but if they do not store him in 2025, the commanders will certainly do their best to bring him to their side.
