Man City: Laliga archives complaint to the EU Commission, which claims the Premier League -Masters, has violated the EU Competition Act | Football News

Laliga President Javier Tebas says the Spanish league has filed a legal complaint to the EU Commission and claims that Manchester City has violated the EU Competition Act.

Tebas said the complaint was filed in 2023 and is linked to the regulation of foreign subsidies. The Europe Commission has also confirmed the receipt of the complaint.

The regulation relates to foreign subsidies awarded by non-EU states to companies dealing with financial activities in the internal market.

Laliga filed a complaint because Manchester City has received foreign subsidies from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), enabling the club to improve its competitiveness and cause significant distortions in different national and EU markets.

Tebas said, “All they do is that they think about how they can avoid rules and regulations.

“We have reported this to the European Union with Facts and Numbers. Why? Because it is an English team that is not part of the EU but they have commercial activities in Europe.

“It is really important that all clubs are subject to transparency rules and governance and real competition on the financial and sporting side of their business.”

Laliga states that the club is receiving resources under non-market conditions that interfere with more closely related markets that allow the club to sign top-tier players and coaches far beyond what would be possible under normal market conditions and to ensure sponsorship revenue at levels that do not match fair market value.

Laliga says this improves Manchester City’s performance on the field while limiting its rival’s capacity.

It is understood that meetings have been held, but Laliga is awaiting a decision and/or further progress from the Europe Commission.

Manchester City says Tebas has a long history of attacking the club and refused to comment.

But they strongly reject the allegations and pointed to their accounts as evidence of no wrongdoing that is a matter of public registration.

City Manager Pep Guardiola was asked three times about the subject and gave the same answer three times: “Next.”

The Laliga President said the Spanish league has filed a legal complaint to the EU Commission that Manchester City has violated the EU Competition Act. Pep Guardiola was asked about the topic of his FA Cup press conference.

Sky Sports News Reporter Ben Ransom continued to ask why Manchester City is a measure of some people, and Guardiola replied, “I don’t know. It has happened in the past with UEFA, and now, in a few weeks, it will happen with the Premier League, the verdict (to 115 charges), right?

“We’re waiting, and after, we’re talking.”

When asked if it has anything to do with success with the city that is disturbing the establishment, he added, “I don’t know.”

Sky Sports News has contacted the EU Commission for Comment.

Laliga’s legal complaint is separately and not related to the 115 prosecutors, which Manchester City faces over alleged violations of the Premier League’s financial regulations. Manchester City denied all the charges.
