Four Cougars earn CAA autumn prices

Richmond, Va.-Fire Cougars has gained recognition of 2024-25 CAA Men’s Basketball Postseason Awards, highlighted by Ante Brzovic, who was appointed his other equal all-caa first team. CJ Fulton and Derrin Boyd were named All-CAA third team, while Justas Stonkus earned a place on the All-Rockie team. Fulton was also named CAA-Damne-Athlet of the Year. Charleston’s four choices are most of any team in the league.

Brzovic, a two-time all-CAA First Team receiver, ended the regular season on average 18.5 points per year. Fight, 8.2 rebounds per Match and 2.9 assists per Match. He ranks in the top three in CAA in both points per year. Fight and rebounds per Match, the only player in the top ten in both categories. He is currently ninth in the nation in total field goals (226) and 16. In defensive rebounds per year. Fight (6.65). Bzovic scored in double figures 27 times this season and crossed the 20+ threshold 14 times while led the league in field target percentage (.549).

Senior from Croatia set career heights this season in points and field goals made, both in Cougars double-over-over thriller vs. Florida Atlantic, where Brzovic sank the game -winning three as time expired. His season 2024-25 goes down in the record books with the 14. Most points in a single season (573), 11. Most field goals made (226) and fifth most defensive rebounds (206).

Fulton serves his first CAA post-season award with a place in the All-Caa third team. Fulton has led the nation compared to Assist/Turnover since January 11, and muted at least seven assists 13 times including five matches with 10+. Senior from Ireland put a career high with 12 assists on Hofstra, the second most in a single game in the school’s history. His 199 assists this season are the third most in a single season in school history. He average 7.6 points per Match and 4.0 rebounds per Battle and are only four rebounds away from 500 career boards. He finished the regular season with a season high 20 points against Delaware.

Fulton was also named CAA-Damne-Athlet of the Year. A political science major he can boast of a 3,622 GPA.

Boyd joins Fulton on All-Caa third team. A graduate student from Princeton, Kentucky, Boyd was an average of 13.7 points per Match and 3.2 rebounds per Match and shoots 41% off the field in his first season with Cougars. He scored a season high 26 points vs. Hampton and registered seven 20+ point performances. He ended the season by draining seven three-pointers and went 60% off the field with 25 points and five rebounds vs. Campbell.

Stonkus was named the All-CAA-Rockie team after his first season in the Holy City. He joins Brzovic as the only player to play in all 31 games this season for Cougars. Stonkus, resident in Lithuania, was an average of 5.0 points per year. Fight and 1.8 rebounds per Battle while shooting 40% off the field. He scored a career hill 13 points in his first collegial start to William & Mary and grabbed a career hill eight rebounds vs. Hampton.

Cougars will be No. 3 seeds in the upcoming 2025 Jersey Mike’s CAA men’s Basketball Championship in Washington, DC, the team will start playing on Sunday, March 9 at. 8:30 AM against the winner of Nr. 6 Monmouth and No. 11 Hofstra/no. 14 North Carolina A&T.
