Source – Myles Garrett is not open to Brown’s extension in the middle of trade

Myles Garrett is not open to a contract extension with Cleveland Browns, confirmed a league source as the team remains firm by the fact that it will not accede to Star Pass Rusher’s commodity.

Cleveland.com first reported that Garrett and his representatives have “slammed the door” about negotiations. Browns met with Garrett’s representatives at the NFL scout combination in Indianapolis this week.

Brown’s General Manager Andrew Berry repeated on Tuesday that he has no intention of trading Garrett, who publicly announced his desire to leave Cleveland in early February.

Wednesday, coach Kevin Stefanski said Garrett is “part of the present. He is part of the future.”

Garrett, 29, a six-time pro bowler and four-time all-pro selection, has two years left on the record-breaking five-year extension of $ 125 million he signed by 2020, but has no longer guaranteed wages.

For eight seasons, Garrett, this year’s defensive player, has made the playoffs twice. Browns’ 3-14 finish in 2024 was their worst since he went 0-16 in 2017, Garrett’s Rookie year. Cleveland holds the second election in the 2025 NFL draft.

Days after making his trade request, Garrett said it is not tied to a desire for a new contract and that he will play for a challenger.

“When I talk to the management at Browns, I don’t want our future to be in line with winning right now,” Garrett told ESPN’s “NFL Countdown” hours before the Super Bowl Lix. “And that’s what I look forward to doing at this stage of my career.”

ESPN’s Adam Schafter contributed to this report.
