Is the Zulu parade canceled?

With strong wind in the forecast Tuesday, Mardi Gras parades in Jefferson Parish have been canceled, and two parades in New Orleans have adjusted their plans, WDSU and Fox 8 reported.

National Weather Service in Slidell Predicts wind of up to 60 km / h from Tuesday morning. Thunderstorms with a risk of hail and tornadoes are expected once after noon. Forecasters worry that this can lead to abandoned trees and power outages and destabilizing floats, which pose a risk of Krewes and paradegos.

New Orleans Police Department said No tents or tarps will be allowed on parade roads after Monday night. They monitored weather conditions and considered canceling parades for Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club and Krewe of Rex, but the parades were still set to roll on Tuesday.

From this writing, Zulu plans to keep his parade at. 06:30 over an hour earlier than planned, Fox 8 reported. They will take a slightly different route and turn on Poydas Street instead of channel.

There will be no dancing troops or bands, but Krewe plans to include HBCU bands that have already entered the city. Krewe interrupted the truck parade, which was scheduled to take place after the parade, according to WDSU.

Krewe of Rex Parade holds its parade at. 9:30 Fox 8 reports that all parades should be off the streets at noon.

Jefferson Parish Canceled Krewe of Argus and Elks Krewe from Jeffersonian’s parades to roll on Tuesday. At a press conference on Monday, parish president Cynthia Lee Sheng said it was a difficult decision, “but our highest priority is to ensure that everyone in our society’s well -being in our society.” Her administration is working with Krewes to re -plan their parades.

Cheap plastic beads often end up at landfills and can clog the city’s 100-year drainage system. This has led to several calls to trench them completely.

For up -to -date forecasts you can visit NWS New Orleans’ new “Mardi Gras decision support.” There you can find a 7-day prognosis for cities in southeastern Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf Coast, with Times Time Weather Forests on things like temperature, wind, cloud cover and rain chances. The prognosis is color -coded green when no influences are expected, yellow for possible limited influences, orange for possible moderate influences and red if there could be significant effects.
