Seattle Kraken (27-33-4)

Washington Capitals (41-14-8)

The hoods close a quick, two-game weekend home level Sunday afternoon against Seattle Kraken. Washington carries a three-game-winning row into the competition, and Caps leaves the district immediately after Sunday’s match. The hoods will spend the next week in Golden State against the NHL’s three California clubs.

Upcoming two days after the NHL’s trading deadline for the 2024-25 season, the trip is good for Washington. The hoods acquired Anthony Beauvillier in a Friday morning deal with Pittsburgh Penguins, and the 27-year-old wings arrived at DMV late Friday night; Pittsburgh was on its way out west when the deal went down.

Beauvillier met and practiced with his new teammates for the first time on Saturday morning, and he is expected to debut for Caps on Sunday against Seattle. He skated the right side of a line with Brandon Duhaily and Nic Dowd on Saturday’s exercise.

“I was still asleep, so it was definitely a crazy morning,” says Beauvillier about learning from the trade. “But hearing that I was coming to Washington, I couldn’t be more pumped. These guys have put so much work this year, and obviously it’s never an easy game to play against these guys. And joining a team that has been successful and seems to be successful in the next few months, it is definitely an honor to be here and a privilege. “

Beauvillier had 13 goals and 20 points, while on average 13 minutes per day. Fight with Penguins this season. He missed only one game this season before the trade, and his dozen goals of 5-to-5 were the third most among all penguins this season.

“I just get to know him,” says Washington coach Spencer Carbery from the latest capital. “I’ve seen a lot of him in the past, most recently in the last few years, but also after his career in New York, where he was there for a long time and some of the quality teams they had to call it a good 10-year-old stretch-when Barry (Trotz) was there, and even before that.

“I’m excited to have him. I think he will be a great addition to the group. I think he has a few relationships with a couple of guys on the team, all reports, all the things we know about him, I think he will be a good fit for our playing style, the pace he plays with, some of the attention to details, things that we demand that our guys play with. And then I think he will be a really good fit. “

Originally a first election (28th overall) by New York Islanders in the NHL draft in 2015, Beauvillier reached the NHL as a 19-year-old in 2016-17 and has played only three smaller league matches in his pro-career, all with the AHL Bridgeport in 2017-18.

“I like to think I’m a hard -working guy who’s good at forcheck,” says Beauvillier using self -description. “I can generate speed and make acting, I like to play with energy and some gravel, so I will try to bring it to the team.”

“We put him with Dowd and Dewey right out of the gate,” says Carbery. “As you might look at and say, ‘Well, he’s a fourth line wing.’ But as everyone knows, Dowd’s line doesn’t play much like a fourth line. They play a lot more minutes than that, and Dowd and Dewey are really good players to play with to get him integrated into our group. They speak a ton, not only on the ice, but out of the ice, on the bench. So I think it’s a good starting point for Anthony and we’ll see where it’s going from there. “

After spending most of the first seven seasons in his career with Isles, Caps Beauvillier’s sixth NHL team in the last three seasons, and Washington is the fourth team he has joined the mid -season in the last three campaigns.

“The game itself remains the same,” he says by adapting to new NHL environments. “You play against the same kind of players, but yes, you definitely have to try to get the system under your belt as soon as possible. But I think the biggest thing for me is getting to know the guys as fast as possible and being comfortable around them. Usually it shows on the ice. “

With a new player who joins the rows of three -quarters of the way into the season, it’s good timing for Beauvillier and Caps to go out on the road.

“We give him a game at home,” says Carbery, referring to Sunday’s slope with Seattle. “I even just think (Saturday’s practice), just being able to come in (Friday) evening and then have a whole day to get all the squared away, equipment.

“There is so much that goes into it; He is just trying to find out what doors are going to go through. I always remember. Even as a coach comes in – not to say all your responsibilities – are you like, ‘where are I going? Where is the laundry room? ‘

“So it will be nice for him to get a game at home and then get out on the road with the guys. And he has some previous relationships and he has played in the league, so I’m sure he’s familiar with many of these guys. And yes, looking forward to joining the group. “

For the second time in so many matches on this homeland, Caps face a team that played the day or the night before. Seattle spent Saturday afternoon in the city of Brotherly Love, against Flyers. On Sunday in Washington, Kraking will end a compact three-game road trip, where this trio of games was played for a period of just under 72 hours.

The trip began on Thursday night in Nashville with a 5-3 loss for the predators. Kraken is smoothed with a 4-1 victory over Flyers on Saturday and got three goals in the second period and a 23-gem performance from ex-caps goalkeeper Phillip Grubauer in Nets. On Saturday, Grubauer’s first NHL campaign marked January 28, and his victory over Flyers broke a personal six-game-your (0-5-1).
