Legge remains low key to Cup Series -Debut on Phoenix

Katherine Legge keeps things simple for his NASCAR CUP SERIES -DEBUT SUNDAY ON THE PHOENIX RACEWAY.

Legge wants to complete the basics – to finish the race after all 312 laps. Phoenix Raceway, in a mile, will be the largest oval Legge has competed in Nascar, where her second is Richmond Raceway (0.750 miles) in the XFinity series.

From there, she just wants to try not to be a negative story. If all this is gathered as Legge hopes, she looks forward to what leads to additional opportunities down the road.

“I want to do a good job of minimizing mistakes,” Legge said. “Everyone makes mistakes, but I really want to minimize them. I will keep out of trouble, show respect and prove that I belong. I think if I can do these things, then I get the opportunity to do more.

“Any expectation that we will go out and be competitive. I think if I’m done with anything other than last, it would be a victory for us, honestly because I don’t have the experience that any of these guys have. I do not have a car that is able to walk and drive in front, so hopefully we can develop and the car and everything else at the same time and we can get there. “

Live Fixed Motorsports is not a full -time team. The single -car operation from BJ and Jessica McLEOD competes for the love of the sport with the admission that they are building against performing what is realistically competitive for their budget.

The shopping for Legge to debut with live quickly came together in about 10 days. She admitted that she would have been more comfortable in the Circuit of the Americas, Road Course, which the series competed a week ago, but it was not possible to put together anything in the time frame they worked in. NASCAR approved Legge to run in Phoenix as it is a shorter oval.

Legge worked a simulator with Chevrolet before his debut and was on Hendrick Motorsports Campus to drive the car to pit stop practice. She also credited Richard Childress Racing and Kaulig Racing for helping in other parts of her preparation.

“I feel super well supported and then prepared, which I may never have driven on an oval like this one a next gene car,” Legge said. “I’ve made a handful of inventory in my career, so I want to either sink or swim, but everyone has given me the best possible opportunity to go out there and do a good job.”

Unfortunately, there is a desire for Legge to not get this weekend.

“I want to admit this and I probably shouldn’t use these words, but I want to,” Legge said with a smile when asked if her debut was meant to coincide with Women’s History Month. “I said, ‘I want to fly under the radar for my first cuplet. No one will notice. We just want to be in the back. We relax. We get NASCAR permission. ‘Then someone was like,’ It’s International Women’s Day on Saturday, ‘and I said,’ Oh, ‘. ‘There’s no way I fly under radar. “
