No. 2-seed women’s basketball move on to the big ten semi-final

Indianapolis – No. 2-seed UCLA Woman’s Basketball team (28-2, 16-2 Big Ten) won his preliminary game on 2025 Tiaa Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament over No. 10-Seed Nebraska at Gainbridge Fieldhouse Friday night, 85-74.

Junior duo of Lauren Betts and Gabriela Jaquez Combined for 51 points and 22 rebounds in the victory over Huskers (21-11, 10-8 Big Ten).

Betts earned his fourth equal double-double and ended with 28 points, 13 rebounds, seven blocks, five assists and three steals. Jaquez ended with a season high 23 points next to nine rebounds.

Junior Kiki Rice Also finished in double, registration of 14 points and nine assists.


Bruins jumped ahead in the first quarter and sat down 27-17 over Huskers. Jaquez quickly started and scored seven points in the first three minutes of the game and finished the quarter with 10 points. Betts added six points on 3-for-3 shooting along with three assists and two rebounds, while Rice recorded three points and three assists. Janiah Barker also chopped four points and two assists, including a penny to Angela Dugalić that ended with a three-point game.


UCLA was outscored 22-14 by Nebraska in the second quarter, but managed to maintain his lead during the break. Betts was elite on both sides of the ball and ended the second frame with seven points, four rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Despite her efforts, UCLA fought throughout the second quarter and was held without a made field goal for over seven minutes. Betts was dynamic in the last seconds of the frame, hit a layup and blocked a Nebraska shot to finish half up 41-39.

Bruins struggled through the third quarter to finish the frame 62-55 on Huskers. Betts recorded seven points, five rebounds and three blocks to serve her 17. Double-double in the season in only three-quarters. Two of Betts’ blocks came on back-to-back-owner within just two seconds after the game. Kiki Rice Also finished the quarter with seven points next to three assists. Jaquez hit a three and Dugalić scored by a reverse set -up to contribute to UCLAS 21 points in the third quarter.

UCLA was effective throughout the fourth quarter to secure their double -digit victory. Betts was the team’s leading goal scorer with eight points, two rebounds, two assists and one block. Jaquez scored six points in the quarter at 3-4 shooting and Rice added four points. Curtains hit a large three-point from an assist from Jaquez to contribute to UCLA’s 13-3 races during the final frame.
