Report: Steelers are expected to offer a huge FA option

That does not deny all the drama around Pittsburgh Steelers On the threshold of unofficially free agency centers on quarterback. More of the dialogue has been about whether Steelers will sign Russell Wilson or Justin Fields to try to tread water during the 2025 season.

Now NFL reporter Dianna Russini has added another name to the list and this is a big one. According to Russini, Steelers and expected to give an offer to Minnesota Vikings Quarterback Sam Darnold. Darnold is considered the best quarterback set to hit free agency.

Darnold came in for a wounded JJ McCarthy last season and led the Vikings to a 14-3 record in the regular season. Darnold looked like nothing like quarterback from the previous six seasons. Which in itself is a serious reason for concern. Not to mention, Darnold seemed to return to his old self in the team’s last two matches. In the last regular seasonal match and in the Vikings, Darnold threw only a touchdown in the two losses and seemed lost at times.

This feels like it has all the things for a very expensive mistake if Steelers guesses Darnold wrong and gives him a massive payday.
