Lonnie Walker IV, Quentin Grimes Drop 25 Piece As Sixers Winning Tank-Off Over Utah Jazz

Back in my day, a game like this would have initiated the intervention of one, if not two Colangelos.

Sixers cracked their three-game losing row as they took down Utah Jazz 126-122 Sunday night.

Quentin Grimes and Lonnie Walker IV led Philadelphia with 25 pieces. Grimes ended with six assists and two steals while Walker grabbed 11 rebounds.

Walker and Adem Bona each had their first career-double-double. Bona ended with 14 rebounds, 14 points and five blocks in 31 minutes of action.

Keyonte George and Kyle Filipowski led Utah, who also ended with 25.

Tyrese Maxey and Paul George remained out, while four regulars were looking for jazz.

Here are some thoughts at the Summer.

First quarter

  • Lots of other drummond to start when he got himself on the board and put his own misses back. He tried to keep his hot three-point shooting in motion, but missed his first open three from the top of the key. Justin Edwards started again aggressively with five quick points.
  • It was hardly enough to keep up with a 10-of-13 start for jazz, led by Kyle Filipowski, who made his first four shots at night. Even this depleted list is capable of choosing Sixers from each other with a large stretch.
  • Nick Nurse did well with his word to give more bench fire some races. Adem Bona and Jared Butler not only checked early, but Alex Reese also saw a few minutes in the quarter (that could have been the only reason why Ricky Council IV was in the game too). Bona jumped up for a nice block, although it required a challenge to overturn from a goal. Reese converted a dump off and took a fee. Sixers pulled by five after one.

Second quarter

  • It turns out that the injection of young people made wonders for the defense-they held the jazz scoreless for a three-minute stretch quarter to go on 15-0 races. Then it was Jeff Dowtin Jr. who delivered a three-point burst-he made four of his first five shots.
  • Grimes’ return to the game kept the offense rolling. He found a wide open bona from a roll, and then followed it up by beating three out of the catch. After a few slow minutes, he took it back with a quick draw to get down for a baseline can.
  • Who else but kj martin for bringing the charge back to Utah. His slash led to six points and he also knocked a corner three. However, Grimes continued to cook at the other end, and Sixers took a seven-point lead into the break.

Third quarter

  • Drummond wasn’t out there to start the second half – he came to the day questionable after a lack of practice the day before with a disease. Despite the big matchup, it was Walker who opened half in his place. He opened it up with some smart layups and got three more to fall.
  • The jazz started the quarter and came to the edge fairly lightly against the small ball lineup, but they ripped off once again. The worst team in the league in turnover speed, they did not take off the ball again – they gave it away five times early in the quarter.
  • Walker continued to chase his shot with confidence when he finished with 16 in the quarter. Butler remained warm with a few of his own triangles. Backcourt by Bona and Reese also continued to hover off. Reese tried a poster in the transition, but Martin had none of it. Sixers’ lead swelled up to 18 after the third.

Fourth quarter

  • The council seemed to play with more comfort as the game had worn on. He knocked down a few triangles at the end of the previous quarter and opened it with a few lovely dump-offs down to Bona.
  • It looked like Sixers’ jumpers had dried up. After the hot start from Bona, they got scoreless for almost four minutes. Utah took advantage of going on a 16-0 race to make the game competitive again. The only starters still in the game for Sixers at this time were Grimes and Edwards.
  • When it had been all night, unfairly fault ended to be the nail in the coffin for jazz – they ended with 17 revenue. Jazz hit triangles to make a late push, but Sixers was able to win the math match by making their free kick. Despite the late efforts, this would always be a hard game to tank, especially with how many guys jazz was missing.
  • March will only be busy. Sixers are back on that Monday night when they go down to take on Atlanta Hawks At. 7.30 pm one.
