Cade Cunningham scores 28 to drive stamps past Trail Blazers

Cade Cunningham scored 28 points and Tobias Harris added 20 points and nine rebounds to help Detroit Pistons chop a 119-112 victory over host Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night.

Jalen Duren recorded 18 points and 12 rebounds and Tim Hardaway Jr. Had 13 points and seven rebounds when Detroit broke a two-game light. Dennis Schroder added 12 points and Malik Beasley had 10 when the stamps finished a two-match season celebration of Trail Blazers.

Anfee Simons scored 34 points for Portland and published his third 30-point effort in the last four games. Jerami Grant had 25 points for Trail Blazers who lost for the fourth time in their last five games.

Scoot Henderson scored 15 points, and Shaedon Sharpe added 12 for Portland, which was exceeded 54-41.

Trail Blazers drew almost the entire game, but fought back from an 18-point deficit to trail with three.

Cunningham made two free kicks with 25.5 seconds left to give the stamps one 115-110 lead.

Simons drove after a basket of 20.2 seconds to go before Cunningham and Schroder each made two free kicks to seal it.

Detroit shot 49.4 percent from the field and knocked 9 of 28 3-point attempts.

Portland made 38.7 percent of its trials, including 15 out of 50 behind the arch.

Pistons scored the first six points in the third quarter to take a 70-58 lead and later pushed the advantage to 82-64 on the dur’s basket with 7:26 back in the period.

Detroit’s lead was 94-76 after Schroder’s basket with 2:27 left before Portland finished the quarter with a 10-3 race. Simons converted a three-point game with 47.1 seconds left as Portland pulled 97-86 into the last stanza.

Trail Blazers drew within 101-95 on Dalano Banton’s basket with 8:15 back in the game. Portland made it a one-owned game on a 3-point of Duop Reath, which cut Detroit’s lead to 111-108 with 2:24 back.

Cunningham scored 15 first half points when Detroit led 64-58 during the break. Grant scored 17 in half for Portland.

Trail Blazers went short on 32-31 at Jabari Walker’s Trey. Detroit responded with 10 straight points before Pistons later led 56-44 at Cunningham’s three-point games with 3:18 back.
