5 WR dimensions for chargers after recent misses on Adams, Metcalf

Wide receiver is undoubtedly the greatest need for Chargers This season. Over the past few days we have seen a few potential goals find new homes, none of which happened to be with the bolts.

There are still some options through trade, especially Cooper Kupp of Rams. Free agency is still the most likely path even though tee higgins were the supposed top target, and Bengals Recently, Franchise labeled him again. Let’s explore the best remaining options and disadvantages and disadvantages of signing each one.

Chris Godwin

For a few reasons, this may not make the most sense. Godwin thrives in the gap, which is also Ladd McConkey’s primary place. It looks like the argument with Kupp, though two talented Wideouts could still make it work. Ideally, however, you would like to find a # 1 that plays on the outside primarily.

Godwin goes out of a season -ending ankle injury, but he was a phenomenal in 2024 before the injury. In seven matches, the Penn State product had 50 catches in 576 yards and five touchdowns. Godwin darkened 1,000 receiving yards in the three previous seasons and were on their way to that bang again. Not only is he a unique passport catcher, but he is also a willing blockage.

Amari Cooper

It was a strangely quiet 2024 season for Cooper. He played through injuries throughout his time in Buffalo, but was mostly unproductive. In 14 combined games between Bills and BrownsThe veteran had 44 catches in 547 yards and four touchdowns.

Cooper will be 31 years old when the 2025 season begins and this last season was his first sign of decline. It had to lower his market value a little, but he may not be a true # 1 -Wideout. Like some of the upcoming names, however, Cooper would provide some veteran management.

St. Diggs

Diggs is possibly the most curious case of someone on this list. Like Godwin, Diggs comes out of a brutal injury that ended his campaign in 2024 early. 31-year-old had 47 catches in 496 yards and three touchdowns in eight games with Texans.

Diggs seemed to get his groove back just before the injury, even though he was not the player he once was. Between his age and comes from a torn ACL, this is a risky move. However, Diggs brings more potential upside to the table than anyone on this list.

Darius Slayton

Slayton has Big-Play upwards and would help stretch the field for Justin Herbert and chargers. But frankly, his contract projections of $ 12+ million a year seem to be a little bit for a guy who has never peaked 800 meters in one season.

He has not had any good quarterback play in his six nfl -seasons that everyone has come with Giants. Herbert would help him out there, but there seem to be better opportunities in free agency for chargers than Slayton.

Deandre Hopkins

With all due respect to the five-time pro bowler, this should be the charger’s last option from this list. Hopkins will be 33 years old in week 1 and has shown signs of decline in the last two years. He failed to eclipse 1,000 meters the last season for the first time in a whole season he has played.

On the flip side he would be cheaper than the other options on this list and give valuable veteran management to a guy like Quentin Johnston. There is one thing or two that Johnston could learn from Hopkins, and that kind of value goes beyond the numbers on the field.
