Unio Esportiva Vic: Six more teams from La Liga, including Atletico Madrid, start their campaigns in this season’s Copa del Rey on Wednesday hoping to improve on their performances of the previous year.

As the format of the competition means that none of the teams playing in the Spanish Supercup (Athletic Bilbao, Mallorca, Real Madrid or FC Barcelona) go into the hat for the first two rounds, Atletico are arguably the biggest club in the first round, as they look to improve on last season’s semi-final where they were beaten 4-0 on aggregate by Cup holders Athletic.

Diego Simeone’s side face Catalan side Unio Esportiva Vic, who play in the regional Liga Elit, which is the sixth tier of the Spanish competition, and should not be a threat against a team containing the likes of Alexander Sorloth and Conor Gallagher , reports Xinhua.
